More great movie openings

The Place Beyond the Pines is a great thriller opening. This is dude to the overall mysterious atmosphere that is injected into the scene. We see a character walking away from the camera. we dont see his face until he is wearin ga helmet. This helmet acts as a mask to hide the characters identity. Before this however we see him using a knife, this creates tension as the reader will question what the knife is for, as the connotations for knives are they are dangrous. This implies that perhaps the character is in danger. This also works well with the titles that are put in over the video we see, as they are merged with the film they stand out far more. The camera doesn't cut before the character putting on the helmet, this creates tension because it is creating anticipation with the audience.
